Digital Bulletin 10.09.24

Did you know? Family Ministries is an umbrella term we use at LCC that encompasses Preschool, Kids, and Student Ministries.  These ministries do plan events that are exclusive to their ministries, but sometimes they work together to benefit the entire family.  Our staff that lead these ministries requested that we use the term "Family Ministries" instead of Next-Gen Ministries, because Next-Gen can insinuate that their time for impact is coming and not yet.  Whereas we firmly believe that all people from the youngest among us to the oldest can make an impact on our world for the purposes of King Jesus.

Catalyst Studies

“YOUR GIFT…GOD’S GLORY”- A Catalyst Study- October 6-27 The class will run weekly for 4 weeks. Meet at 10:30 in room 117. You can sign-up for the study here. We also invite you to take a Spiritual Gifts Survey available here!

God’s mission includes you and if you have submitted your life to Jesus, God has given you a spiritual gift

to exercise for His mission in the world. When every Christian in the church exercises their spiritual gift

under the Lordship of Jesus, the church grows healthy; the community and the world encounter Jesus;

and God receives the honor and glory. We have a 4-week Catalyst study to help you understand what

scripture has to say about the giving and use of spiritual gifts for God’s mission in this world

What the Women Saw – Women’s Catalyst Study - September 22-October 27. The class will run for 6 weeks. Join Hannah Myers at 9am in room 117 for discussion and fellowship. No need to sign up…just show up!

Do women matter to the kingdom of God?

Through this six-session study, we will discover who Jesus is through the unique perspective of women in the Bible. As we study the lives of Mary, Martha, Mary Magdalene and others, we will learn from their faith and failures and be reminded that Jesus cared for and valued the women He was surrounded by. He equipped them, listened to them, walked with them, healed them, and empowered them. And he does the same for us now.

Fall Retreat for Students-Nov 22-24 Join us this fall at Hanging Rock Christian Assembly, November 22-24 for our 412 Fall Retreat for students grade 6-12th, where we’ll explore the importance of resting in a busy world and discovering peace amid uncertainty. In today’s fast-paced life, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, but the Bible offers profound wisdom on rest. In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus invites us to come to Him for rest, promising to carry our burdens and provide solace for our weary souls.

Throughout our retreat, we’ll engage in prayer, reflection, and fellowship, diving deep into scripture that speaks to the transformative power of rest, such as Psalm 23, which assures us that God restores our souls. Together, we’ll learn how to embrace stillness, trust in God’s plan, and find hope even when life feels uncertain.

Don’t miss this chance to recharge, connect with others, and deepen your faith. We can’t wait to see you there! Check-in is on the 22nd at 6:30 pm and pick up on Sunday is 1:00 pm Please register here . All students must have a 2024 medical form on file.

Global Impact Spotlight Hurricane Helene Relief Effort-Have you found yourself looking at pictures and video of the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene in the Southeast United States and wanted to know how you can help?  During the month of October, LCC will be matching all gifts up to $5,000 that you donate to Hurricane Helene relief.

International Disaster Emergency Services (IDES) is a long-term global partner of LCC.  IDES works with local churches in areas that have experienced natural disasters to connect directly with those in need of relief and recovery efforts.  Every dollar given goes directly to relief and recovery efforts in affected areas. IDES is already working with churches in Florida and Georgia to get help where it is needed most. They are continuing to work on getting partners to coordinate with in Western North Carolina.

If you'd like to donate you can do so online through our website www.lebanonchristian.org.  Click on "Give" at the top of the page and follow prompts.  Be sure to choose "Missions Designated--IDES" from the drop-down menu for your choice of fund. You can also use one of the envelopes labeled "Hurricane Helene Relief" at our communion stations in the main auditorium if you want to give cash or a check.  Simply place your gift inside the envelope and place it in the offering box.  If you want your cash gift to be tax-deductible, please put your name and address on the back of the envelope.  We do ask that any giving for Hurricane Helene relief be given above and beyond your normal giving and not simply a redirection of your regular giving.

Additionally, Volunteers are needed to help with the initial cleanup, tarping roofs, and responding to other emergency needs. If anyone is interested in volunteering with these efforts, please email volunteer@ides.org to be notified of potential volunteer opportunities.

Blessing Bags Update: All The Blessing Bags that you have so generously donated have been picked up. Please share your story of when you passed out your bag, we would love to hear about it. You can share your story at office@lebanonchristian.org

Serving Opportunities

Guest Services-Acknowledgment is important for many reasons:

It can help to strengthen bonds and improve the quality of life.

Acknowledgment is a way to demonstrate respect and understanding for others.

Acknowledgement is recognizing the value of others.

If you resonate with being acknowledged and the value of acknowledging and encouraging others, we would like to talk with you about serving as a member of our Guest Services Team. Please go here to indicate your desire to find out more about helping to acknowledge people who are seeking Jesus, at LCC.

Flower Beds and Yardwork-The flower beds around the church are tended by volunteers. You would be responsible for a specific section of the flower bed, weeding, trimming, leaf removal, etc. We also need a family or Life group to take responsibility for the area around the white house. This doesn’t require a lot of time. Contact Debbie McKillip 317-941-0018 for more information or to sign up.

Christmas with LCC

Yes, October just started, and you may not want to think about Christmas, but now is the time to line up important help for the Christmas Season at LCC.  We are in search of one or two individuals who have a passion for Christmas decorating to coordinate the decorating of the Main Lobby, Office Lobby, and Hub.  The ideal person would be willing to coordinate and recruit a small team of elves (other volunteers) to assist them, understand the importance of working within a budget, and be willing to work with our staff team to help the decor match the overall vision for the church this Advent Season.  If you'd like to learn more about this opportunity please contact the office (office@lebanonchristian.org) or our Lead Pastor Craig Howie (craig@lebanonchristian.org).
