ABOUT > HISTORY

The Lebanon Christian Church was born because of the vision and faith of the Boone County Christian Churches who felt that our county seat should have a strong independent Christian Church. Unselfishly, they gave time, money and members. From the very first prayer meeting October 4, 1983 to the present day, God is working in the lives of the Lebanon Christian Church family. The first service, November 27, 1983 was held at Memory Hall. Thirty-five adults answered the invitation to become the first members during the week long evangelistic crusade at the 4-H Community Building in December.

In July, 1984 Harry F. Pitts was called to be the church's first full-time minister. Later that fall the congregation bought seven acres of land, and paid for it in full. In July, 1985 ground was broken for the first building, and we moved into the structure on Easter Sunday, 1986. Our first Faith-Promise Missionary Rally was held in November, 1986. Since the church's beginning over 1 million dollars has been given to missions.

As our church body has grown so have our facilities. In June of 1991 our education and fellowship hall was complete, and in the summer of 2002 we dedicated our most recent addition, the Family Life Center. These facilities have proven to be a true blessing for our ministry to the church and community. LCC has approximately 10 acres of land and purchased a neighboring house and property for future expansion of a Worship Center. In August, 2004 Harry Pitts retired after 20 years of service and Lee Faust was hired as the Preaching Minister.

As our church has grown to almost 600 people worshiping together each week, Lebanon Christian Church members and guests alike have embraced the necessary and instrumental changes needed for a growing congregation. God has truly blessed us with godly leaders and a united family. We look forward to how God will bless us as we move into the future.
